Devices¶
The Devices screen lists every device on your account, grouped by location. From here you can check a device's latest readings, rename devices and channels, add and edit alerts, snooze a device's alerts while you work on it, and replace a failed device.
Open the menu (☰) and tap Devices.
Find a device¶
- Type in Search... at the top to filter the list. The search matches the device name, serial number, part number and location name. Tap the X in the box to clear it.
- Devices are grouped under a Location - header for each location.
- Pull down on the list to refresh it. The list also refreshes by itself every 5 minutes while the screen is open.
Read a device card¶
Each device card shows:
| Part of the card | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Green check | No alerts are active on the device |
| Red warning triangle | At least one of the device's alerts is active. The name is also shown on red |
| Blue snooze icon | The device's alerts are snoozed |
| Device name | Green background normally, red while an alert is active and not snoozed |
| Date and time under the name | When the device last reported |
| ⋮ menu | Device Info, Snooze Alerts and Replace Device |
Note
The signal-strength icon on the card is always the same. It does not show the device's actual signal.
See a device's channels and alerts¶
Tap the arrow at the left of a device card to expand it. You see a header with the location and serial number, then one card per channel:
- A gauge and the latest value and units. The gauge is green, or red while an alert on that channel is active.
- The channel number and name, for example 3: Tank Level.
- Three buttons:
Under a channel that has alerts, each alert is listed as channel number: alert name with its trigger underneath. A blue shield means the alert is not active; a red warning means it is active. Tap the gear on an alert to edit it. See Alerts.
Rename a device¶
- Tap ⋮ on the device card and choose Device Info.
- The dialog title shows the device's serial number (S/N:). It also shows the part number (P/N:), the Location: and the Last Report: time.
- Change Device Name.
- Tap Save, or Close to leave it unchanged.
Rename a channel¶
- Expand the device and tap the gear on the channel.
- In Editing Channel: number, change Channel Name.
- Tap Save.
Note
Renaming devices and channels needs the account's Add/Edit Locations role. Without it, an Access Denied message names the role you need. See Roles and permissions.
Snooze a device's alerts¶
Snooze a device while you work on it, so its alerts don't text and call everyone. A snooze covers every alert on the device and starts straight away. For more about snoozing, see Snoozing alerts.
- Tap ⋮ on the device card and choose Snooze Alerts.
- In Snooze Device Alerts, enter the Snooze Duration (Minutes), for example
120for two hours. - Enter a Reason, such as "Replacing pump 2". It is saved with the snooze.
- Tap Save.
The device's status icon changes to the blue snooze icon.
End a snooze early¶
- Tap ⋮ on the device card and choose Snooze Alerts again.
- The Active Snooze dialog asks "There is an active snooze on this device. Do you want to cancel it?"
- Tap Cancel Snooze to end it now, or Close to leave it running.
Warning
Enter the duration in minutes. The app does not check the number, so a typo such as
1440 instead of 144 snoozes the device for a full day. The app cannot snooze a single
alert or set up a repeating snooze; use the web portal for that.
Replace a failed device¶
When you swap a failed device for a new one, Replace Device changes the device's serial number to the new unit's. Everything else stays as it was: the device's name, location, channels, alerts and history. You scan both devices' labels with the phone's camera, and a photo is saved with each scan as a record of the exchange.
You need a phone or tablet with a camera, and both devices in front of you.
- Tap ⋮ on the old device's card and choose Replace Device.
- The Replace Device dialog explains the steps. Tap Scan old device.
- Point the camera at the old device's serial number or QR label and hold it in the box ("Center the device's serial/QR label in the box."). Tap the torch button if it is dark. The app reads the label by itself.
- The dialog shows Old device confirmed. Tap Scan replacement and scan the new device's label the same way.
- Check both serial numbers, then tap Submit.
- When you see Device replaced successfully. and Serial is now new serial, tap Done.
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| That doesn't match the selected device. | You scanned a different device from the one you chose. Check you picked the right card, and scan the old device's own label |
| The replacement scanned the same serial as the old device. | Scan the new device, not the old one |
| Photo capture failed — please rescan. | Scan again |
| Camera permission is required to scan the device. | Allow the app to use the camera in your phone's settings, then try again |
| Replacement failed. or another red message | Nothing was changed. Try again, or contact support |
Tap Cancel at any point before Submit to stop without changing anything.
